HONG KONG, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) — Shares in Hong Kong soared more than three percent at Wednesday’s open, extending the previous day’s rally on the back of stimulus measures from China’s central bank.
The Hang Seng Index surged 3.12 percent, or 591.87 points, to open at 19,592.43. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index jumped 3.43 percent to open at 6944.8 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index climbed 3.78 percent to open at 4063.51.
Wednesday’s gains in Hong Kong followed an over four percent advance on Tuesday and were again across the board.
The surge came after China’s central bank, top securities regulator and financial regulator on Tuesday announced a raft of monetary stimulus, property market support and capital market strengthening measures at a press conference, boosting market confidence. ■
